Privacy Policy

The short version

• Your videos are never uploaded. They are read and cut by your own browser, on your own device.
• We never see, copy, store, or share your files. No copy of your video exists on any server we control.
• No account and no email address are required. There is nothing to sign up for.
• We collect anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics, so we know which tools are worth improving.
• We do not sell data, and we do not show advertising today. If either changes, this page changes first.

Your videos never leave your device

When you pick a file, your browser reads it from your own disk into your device's memory. The cutting happens there, using the video APIs built into the browser. Nothing is transmitted to us at any point: there is no upload step, no temporary server copy, and no processing queue.

That is also why the tools start immediately — a two-gigabyte file opens in seconds instead of spending minutes uploading — why there is no file size limit, and why the page keeps working if your connection drops.

When you close the tab, nothing remains. Because your files never reach us, we cannot recover them, review them, or pass them to anyone, including on request. If you delete a file from your device, no copy of it exists anywhere else.

What we do collect

Usage statistics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and tools are used. This records the page you viewed, the site you arrived from, your browser and operating system, an approximate location derived from your IP address (usually country or city level), and when you visited.

We do not send file names, file contents, or anything else about the videos you open to our analytics. If we add tool-usage events later — for example, that a split was completed and how many parts it produced — those events record the tool and the outcome, never your file.

Server logs. Our site is delivered through a content delivery network, which, like any web host, records incoming requests (IP address, browser identifier, and time) for security and abuse prevention. This happens on every website you visit, and it is not connected to your video files, which never reach the server.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies that tell one visit apart from another. They hold a randomly generated identifier — not your name, and nothing about your files.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party retargeting.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the tools keep working exactly the same. Nothing about the video features depends on cookies.

Your choices and rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, or you are a resident of California, you have rights over personal data held about you, including the right to ask what is held and to have it deleted.

In practice, the only data that could relate to you is an analytics record tied to a cookie on your own device. The fastest way to remove it is to clear cookies for this site or block analytics; you can also write to us and we will help.

Because Vidkito has no accounts, we usually have no way to identify you at all. That is deliberate.

Children

Vidkito is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Nothing on the site asks anyone to provide personal details.

Advertising

Vidkito does not display advertising today. If we introduce it, we will update this page before any ads appear. Where the law requires consent for advertising cookies — in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, for example — we will ask for it before anything is set.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes — anything that affects what is collected or how your files are handled — will be described on the page itself rather than made quietly.
